Be a part of this exciting educational and recreational experience! A School of the Earth program is scheduled to take place from 22 to 28 July 2013 at Wellwood Center in Kenny Lake, Alaska. School of the Earth programs at Wellwood Center include features such as:
.
road trip to Worthington Glacier, high in the Chugach Mountains, where glacial retreat can be seen first-hand
raft trip on the Tonsina and Copper Rivers for a salmon’s-eye view of the environment and a chance to watch for eagles, grizzly bears, and moose
visit to a local farm to explore how one family has faced the daunting challenges of farming in the subarctic with a commitment to produce food and other crops in an earth-friendly way
visit to a subsistence fish camp along a glacial river to learn about a subsistence life style and methods of sustainable salmon harvest
walks through natural settings with beautiful views of the Wrangell Mountains, the Tonsina River valley, and the Chugach Mountains

environmental concerns, such as: habitat loss; species extinctions; climate change; pollution, proactive approach to future problems, effects of human values and priorities on ecological issues
spiritual concerns, such as: values that reinforce greater good, separating core beliefs from culture, dangers of fanaticism and superstition, unifying spiritual approaches to problems, sources of motivation and meaning

College credit is available through the University of Alaska system for a small additional fee.
 
School of the Earth offers a package that includes meals, round trip transportation to and from Anchorage, excursions, and participation in all parts of the program. Camping space is available at no charge. Wall tents (shared) are available for an additonal $125/person for the week of the program. A limited number of B&B rooms (with roommate) may be reserved for $300 per person.

2013 Prices: $1,495 Option A: free camping space, or lodging otherwise provided for by participant
  $1,620 Option B: cot in shared wall tent
  $1,795 Option C: B&B room with roommate

A minimum deposit of $500 is required to secure your reservation. All payments are fully refundable if cancellation is made by 1 July 2013. The minimum deposit is due if a reservation is cancelled after that date.
